Heart Disease and Stroke Task Force

The Nevada Heart Disease and Stroke Task Force was developed from the Heart Disease and Stroke Advisory Committee that ended last legislative year. The Task Force is comprised of over 60 members from associations including Nevada Hospital Association, Nevada Primary Care Association, Nevada Rural Hospital Partnership, organizations including the American Heart Association and HealthInsight, local health authorities including Southern Nevada Health District, numerous hospital systems, stroke and cardiac coordinators, federal qualified health centers, physician champions and patient representatives.

The Task Force worked to together to develop and implement the Nevada Heart Disease and Stroke Strategic Plan. The plan is a five-year working plan aimed to help improve the quality of care for patients while improving the healthcare continuum in Nevada. The plan is entering into its second year.

Heart Disease and Stroke Strategic Plan

Heart disease and stroke are both leading causes of death in Nevada and account for 1 in 3 deaths. The Heart Disease and Stroke Strategic Plan, developed by the Heart Disease and Stroke Task Force, outlines goals and activities to address and reduce health issues related to high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke within Nevada. This working plan will be modified yearly as activities and goals are met.
